Join Dr. Linda Cavasos for our March session dedicated to writing and oral language for English learners. In this session, we will review prewriting strategies that help English learners improve their writing skills. We will examine student writing samples to see how language and reading gaps can lead to writing difficulties. Guidance will be offered on linguistic and academic supports to assist English learners’ writing development.

Our April session will be led by Dr. Margie Gillis. Participants will understand the importance of a function-based approach for teaching students the role that each grammatical building block plays in constructing a variety of sentences. This information will build on prior sessions by explaining the integral role that sentences play in students’ writing fluency.
